Summer is in full-swing and that means vacation season is as well. We thought it would be helpful to give some advice on how you can ensure your home is safe while you're away. Here are 4 easy tips that will have you feeling at ease while on your trip this summer:
  1. Ask a friend to stop by. Have someone you trust come by once a day, or even every few days depending on how long you're going to be gone. Have them water the plants and keep an eye out for leaks or open windows - small things that can cause a real mess if not taken care of in a timely manner.
  2. Don't tell the world on social media. You never know who is going to see what you post on the internet. There are better ways to share your adventure with friends and family anyway.
  3. Stop your mail and newspaper. It's as simple as calling the local post office to get your mail held. An over flowing mailbox is a dead giveaway that the house is empty.
  4. Unplug your electronics. This will save you money on your electric bill and help prevent electrical fires that may occur while you're away.
It's as easy as that to feel comfortable leaving your home while out of town. We hope you found these tips helpful, and that you have a safe and happy trip this summer. As always, feel free to give us a call or shoot us an email for the help you need when buying or selling a home. We'd love to here from you.
